My Life with Android since 2009…

  • November 2009 I got my first Droid, the Eris – loved it but it was a bit slow.
  • Feb 2010 I got my second Droid, the Incredible and have been loving it but now it wants to reboot itself too often.
  • May 2011 I got my 3rd Droid, the Thunderbolt and am looking forward to loving the 4G once I get it setup tomorrow and this weekend.
  • April – May 2011 I coded my first Android App (Free Starbucks), it went live in the Google Market yesterday, still waiting for Amazon to approve it. Got 13 downloads and 5 Stars.
  • May 2011 I got my Moto Xoom and am loving it.
  • I have begun coding an HD (High-Def) version of Free Starbucks to take advantage of the Xoom’s wider screen.  I will be coding an Android 2.1 and lower version and one for the iPhone (with Steve Jobs’ approval, I hope).
  • I have tools that allow me to code for both Android and iPhone using the same source code sans Flash (OpenPlug) and tools that allow me to do the same with Flash (Flash Builder 4.5), even though there is no Flash for iPhone.
  • I have tools that allow me to code Python for Android with slick GUI support.
  • Needless to say I have having a blast with Android.

Brief Review of the Moto Xoom Day #2

I have been successfully using the Wi-Fi Moto Xoom tethered to my HTC Incredible Android Phone with very good results across the board.

Not only is the Xoom fast enough when Zooming around the web but it was fast enough to do so during a 3 hour meeting with very little battery power used during the meeting.  I am typically able to use my Xoom rather heavily for 16+ hrs a day with no worries and no reason to recharge during the day.

I can’t wait for my new HTC Thunderbolt to arrive in a few days, the Verizon folks were good enough to allow me to upgrade 2 months early and I am chomping at the bit to use some LTE, if possible.

Now all I need to do is figure-out how to Root my new Thunderbolt so I can tether it to my Xoom.
